Situated on 100 acres in Orange, the heart of New South Wales, Kinross Wolaroi School is a unique community which embodies the strong character and spirit of rural Australia. Kinross is a co-educational school of over 1100 students, including 330 boarders in Years 7-12.
In 2017, Kinross Wolaroi School launched a new learning initiative titled The Regional Engagement Enterprise (TREE). TREE provides contextual, cross-curricular, community-based learning experiences for all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The aim of this program is to showcase the regional opportunities available, to educate students about the importance of agriculture to Australia, to engage students in their learning by making it as relevant as possible and to provide a variety of experiences that cater for all. DAILY LIFE OF A DAY BUG (DAY STUDENT) 0700: Students wake up and get ready for school. 0800-0830: We catch busses or get driven to school arriving in time for an 0845 start. 0845-1525: Throughout the school day we are engaged in a range of subjects, from English Maths and Science, to Tech, Art and Music. 1525: At the end of the school day, we don't go home but most days stay behind for a range of after school activities such as; Sport- Winter and Summer Cadets- compulsory for year 7-9 and then chosen Musical- an fun experience that students from 7-11 can chose to enjoy Music extras- this includes a great music program that has many ensembles such as Orchestra, Chamber strings, Symphonic Winds Ensemble, and many other small group ensembles After we have completed all these activities we head off home, some kids travelling for over an hour, just for the opportunity to go to our school. |
Daily life of a boarder : 0645 we wake up and get dressed 0700 we go down to breakfast ( toast/cereal/hot food) 0730 we catch the bus over to school 0740-0845 we wait at school for it to start 0845 school starts and we go to period 1 and period 2 1030 we go to tutor (form class /pastoral care) 1050 recess starts and we go to the dining hall to collect our boarders food ( muffins/lamington/ fruit) 1110 recess ends and we go to period 3 and period 4 1255 lunch starts and we head to the dining hall to collect our boarders food (sandwiches/fruit/hot food which includes pies and curries) 1340 we go to period 5 and period 6 1525 school ends and we go to our locker to get our bags and get changed for sport 1540 we go to sport 1700 sport finishes and we catch the bus back to PLC 1800 we go to dinner( lamb cutlets/curried sausages/fish/chicken) 1845 we go to prep (homework) 2030 prep ends and we go back to our houses to have our supper(biscuits/hot chocolates) 2100 phones get handed in and we go to bed |
